Detroit in 2025 is so much more than music and motors. The city has a huge selection of restaurants, a bustling cultural scene, top-flight sports and shopping. It is a city that will move you! State-of-the-art transport systems mean you can travel by boat, streetcar, light rail or car.

Please be aware that we expect high traffic volume and road closures because of the Detroit Grand Prix taking place on May, 31 and June, 1. Additional information is posted at the bottom of this page.

Tips for a smooth stay

Visit the Visit Detroit Welcome Table for information on navigating around town, where to eat, what to do and local expertise.

On Sunday, June 3, 2025 from 3pm to 6pm this table will be staffed and located on the third-floor bridge to the guest elevator of the Marriott and at Huntington Place.

On Monday, June 4, 2025, from 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. and Tuesday, June 5. 2025 from 10 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. located at Huntington Place.

Follow indoor signage and floor sticker signage to access People Mover.

Huntington Place, located in the heart of downtown Detroit, is one of North America's premier event destinations. Overlooking the Detroit River, this state-of-the-art convention center offers stunning waterfront views and versatile meeting spaces. Its central location provides easy access to Detroit's cultural, dining and entertainment scenes, making it an ideal venue for Realize LIVE.

Transportation in Detroit

Huntington Place parking

We do not have any reserved parking at Huntington Place, please visit the site link to learn more about parking. Be aware that the Detroit Grand Prix is taking place May, 30 and June, 1 please check local information for traffic updates.

Detroit Air Express (DAX)

DAX is a new airport shuttle offering 16 daily round-trips from downtown Detroit to DTW. The shuttle runs daily from 3:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Tickets are $8 at the door and $6 for reservations. Pick-up and drop-off locations are the Downtown Detroit stop on the west side of Washington Boulevard near State Street. Departures are at the McNamara Terminal, and ground transportation is at the Evans Terminal.

The Detroit People Mover

The Detroit People Mover is an elevated and automated light-rail system that can help you get around downtown quickly, easily and safely. The 2.9-mile looped system, which can be completed in approximately 15 minutes, has 13 stations and automatic stops at key downtown locations, including Huntington Place, GM Renaissance Center and Greektown.

QLine

The QLine is a 3.3-mile circulating streetcar that runs along Woodward Avenue between Congress Street and West Grand Boulevard in downtown Detroit. The QLine stretches from downtown through New Center and drops you off near prime locations, including Little Caesars Arena, The Detroit Institute of Arts and the Museum of Contemporary Art. Headways range from eight to 12 minutes. The streetcar route has 20 stations that serve 12 locations.

Beyond the high-speed action, enjoy live music, delicious food and activities for the whole family. Whether you're a die-hard fan or looking for a fun day out, the Detroit Grand Prix is an event you won't want to miss.

ARRIVING TO THE DETROIT MARRIOTT AT THE RENAISSANCE CENTER

For rideshare (Uber/Lyft) drop-off:

Drop-off location: Renaissance Drive – Marriott Porta cache (Motor lobby entrance) Your driver should navigate to Detroit Marriot at the Renaissance Center (400 Renaissance Drive) and follow border patrol & signage directions.

Traffic check points

Make sure you have your digital notice from the hotel ready to show border patrol at the traffic check points. You will also need to state that you are a guest at the hotel. Border patrol will direct you to the drop off location.

Instructions for driver: “Drop off at Marriott at the Renaissance Center entrance on Renaissance Drive.”

Once dropped off, enter the hotel, and take elevators up to the third floor for hotel check in.

DRIVING TO THE DETROIT MARRIOTT AT THE RENAISSANCE CENTER

Hotel address for GPS: Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center 400 Renaissance Drive, Detroit, MI 48243

Recommended route: Use I-375 South to access West Jefferson Avenue, then follow signage and traffic control officers instructions to Hotel Motor Lobby Entrance and arrive at hotel.

Alternate route:

From Southbound M-10 (the Lodge), take I-94 East

Merge onto I-75 South, then continue to I-375 South to access West Jefferson Avenue, then follow signage and traffic control officers instructions to Hotel Motor Lobby Entrance and arrive at hotel.

Traffic check points

Make sure you have your digital notice from the hotel ready to show border patrol at the traffic check points. You will also need to state that you are a guest at the hotel. Border patrol will direct you to the drop off location.

Parking info: Upon Arrival at the hotel the hotel staff will assign you a parking placard based on your length of stay. Note that standard parking fees apply.

Important: Allow extra travel time. Road closures and detours are expected near the Grand Prix circuit.

GETTING TO HUNTINGTON PLACE FROM THE DETROIT MARRIOTT AT THE RENAISSANCE CENTER

Once you're checked in and settled, you have several options for getting to Huntington Place, about one mile away:

1. People mover (recommended for quick transit)

Closest station to hotel: Renaissance Center Station

Ride to: Huntington Place Station

Fare: Free

Trains run every 3-5 minutes. Follow indoor signage from the hotel lobby to the People Mover station located inside the Renaissance Center.

2. Pedestrian walkway (scenic route)

Walking directions from the Marriott Renaissance Center to Huntington Place:

Head down to the Motor Lobby (street level)of the hotel and exit to street level.

You will be facing Renaissance Driveturn right and walk up the hill.

At the intersection with Jefferson Avenue, turn left and walk toward Mariners Church.

Look for event way finders, who will direct you to the pedestrian bridge.

Cross the bridge and you’ll arrive in Hart Plaza.

Walk straight through Hart Plaza to access the Detroit Riverwalk.

Follow the Riverwalk west (keeping the river on your left) until you reach Huntington Place.
